-1-1/2 inch tap requires a 1-3/8 starter hole (drill bit not included). Straight-grain and round hardwood dowels work best. Oil dowel with mineral or boiled linseed oil (not included), or better yet, soak dowel in oil for several days before machining to reduce friction and tearout. Package includes Polypropylene threadbox, 7-inch through-hole tap with handle and instructions
